A staff sergeant, a field technician, a footwear innovator, a studio founder, a design leader: same person, one instinct running through all of it, take the ambiguous thing nobody's built yet, and give it a shape that scales.
Long before "UX" was a job title, Mo was the one called in when something had to work, no room for a second chance. As a Digital Flight Controls Technician on nuclear-armed F-16 fighters in the U.S. Air Force during Operation Desert Storm, that instinct was planted and cultivated by consequence: a Staff Sergeant, honorably discharged, decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal for Technical Excellence for exactly this: precision when precision is the whole job. Later, as an electro/hydraulic technician on powerful industrial machinery, he learned to read a machine's failure before it failed.
He carried that discipline into field service, keeping Kodak and Apple hardware running for the film and music industry where projects couldn't afford downtime. By the time he picked up a design tool, he already understood something most designers arrive at late: systems fail at the seams, and the seams are where the real work is.
Mo spent sixteen years as a Concept Designer in Nike's Innovation Kitchen, where the job was never to polish. It was to invent. He moved fluidly across Nike, Jordan, and Converse, taking concepts from sketch to shipped product for Jordan Motorsports, Nike SB, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and countless other brand concepts.
At Publicis Sapient, Mo founded and scaled an Experience Innovation studio into a global prototyping franchise, another in the collection of functions he'd build from zero. The studio's work spanned AR, VR, voice, gesture, IoT, UAV, and BCI: 32 patentable physical-digital prototypes, serving niche and under-served audiences. The studio won five MITX innovation awards and four of five technology hackathons it entered, a hit rate that became its own kind of reputation.
"Whether it was the original intention or not, with every role, I've created a completely new capability." - Mø
The pattern that started with a studio repeated itself, again and again, at greater scale and higher stakes. At Schneider Electric, Mo transformed a legacy engineering-driven organization into a user-centered product practice, leading 12 designers across critical infrastructure software for energy, water, and asset management. At Mise En Place, he co-founded the design function itself: creative direction, culture, and governance, built simultaneously, in a startup moving too fast to wait for any of them. At FINRA, he directed seven designers modernizing the agency's most technically sophisticated internal tools, cutting iteration time by 92 percent. And at Convatec, he's built the company's first DesignOps function from the ground up: design system, governance model, and shared component library, for two global healthcare products serving patients and providers.
